This is in the news post I made but it's easier to edit a thread lol, and this way ppl can make suggestions on categories :] For most of the categories I'm looking to deviantART right now for guidance. If you feel like I've miscategorized anything plz lemme know :]

Most of the galleries are pretty straightforward so here I'm only going to define ones that might be confusing, and any new galleries that I add.

NEW! Original > Freehand
- Drawn by hand without the aid of tracing or drafting devices.

Original > Referenced
- for original walls that referenced non-stock images. Guidelines have more details on this:
If you got permission from the original photographer/artist please state it clearly in your wall descrip! :D

Original > Seasonal
- for holiday walls, thanks tates for suggest :D

Other - pretty much for anything that doesn't have its own parent category already, but doesn't really have enough walls of its kind to warrant creating a new parent category yet.

are so many subcategories really needed? it seems kind of limiting if anything else. i.e you can have an original freehand wall that is subject-wise seasonal, so how would that work?

I only point this out, because this was exactly how MT was when it first started. There were wall sections for grunge, vector, etc... Needless to say, it didnt work and was one of the first things removed/changed.

Interesting. For MT I dunno, it definitely makes more sense to organize anime walls by series/artists as that's what most people would prefer to browse by. But for original walls, I think people should just pick or add what they think which category is most appropriate for their walls. It seems to work on devART and they probably still have about 20 more categories for walls than what we have right now XD Granted they're 10 billion times bigger too but anyhoo, I'm not sure how else to organize the original walls category apart from the way it was before... all lumped together in "artish" with some spread out in other random categories and that was seriously killing my obsessive-compulsive self xE

I'd be happy to consolidate some categories too if that makes people's lives easier. Just based on the walls we have right now, the subcategories seem to make sense. If you REALLY end up wanting to kill a subcat because of confusion just let me know.

Speaking of killing, I just got rid of the Artish category x]

that seasonal sounds pretty random, wouldnt be better a nature general thing?
