i was looking at crunchyroll.com if there are new releases of dennou coil and saw a thumb for mononoke and thought it looked interesting so i watched it, and remembered shinn mentioning it, it's like watching traditional japanese paintings move which is awesome :O anyway yeah you guys should watch it, it's creepy in a good way :'D reminds me somewhat of mushishi.

any of you have heard or seen the first chapter of baccano? am I the only one following it?

This is totally last season (or x number of seasons ago, I'm totally out of date of course) but did anyone watch and enjoy Red Garden? I just read the ANN review -
Totally does not look or sound like my type of anime but I'm a bit curious, partly because it seems like there's a big disconnect between the "mystery/horror" genre of the series and the purty pop-y walls I've seen for this series o.o

...but yeah in general I run as far away from horror things as I possibly can. Haha totally randomly, one of the worst bus rides I can remember coming back from NYC involved someone picking the movie 1408 (based on Stephen King's novel). I tried blasting my iPod as loud as possible into my ear but covering up screaming is VERY difficult. Walking home at midnight after that was worse, I had to resort to calling my boyfriend on my dying cellphone so I can talk to him and not imagine freaky little girls and whatnot hiding in the bushes...

I saw like the first 4 eps of it and was probably one of the series I would have continued in the Fall if I had to like...pick one series. But yea, from what I saw it was sort of wierd and bugged me, at the same time interested me. For example, the plot development is somewhat interesting but certain things like characters breaking out into song randomly like a bad musical really turned me off....

I picked up Saiunkoku Monogatari recently because I read some good things about it on the ANN boards. It really IS quite good. I'm not sure if all the Juuni Kokki comparisons are exactly on... apart from the Chinese-influenced style... the political intrigue runs a little deeper in Saiunkoku Monogatari I think, packs a bit more bunch right when you're settling in to the awesome warm fuzzies of the story... anyhow definitely recommend it for anyone who's looking for a great shoujo series that's not run of the mill. Also after watching Nodame, Saiunkoku, and seeing him at the Otakon panel, I can now officially say that I HEART TOMOKAZU SEKI! XDDDD

did you read the manga or watch the anime? i actually followed this for a few eps when it first aired and liked it....thoguh i sort of forgot about it til now.....

Anime *hearts* I'm up to the 11th episode and it's still going strong! ;D

in my opinion the live-action nodame is far superior and the animation is a weird strike at trying to get viewers/leeching of the intense popularity of the live-action.

to me it was a waste of time :/

but i am excited for the live-action special coming up :)

Lol no way! Well, the live action ending was a LOT better. But Stresemann in the anime was more true to the original. He just looked so strange and sketchy in the live action that I couldn't really convince my boyfriend that Stresemann is actually a good character - 3-

I did think that both stayed fairly true to the manga, or as much as I've read of it anyhow, and that's a huge plus. Definitely excited for the live-action special as well :D

Have seen some purty scans for Dragonaut floating around but no, have not seen. If it's good let us know... not that my to-watch list isn't ten miles long as usual x]

ANN Fall 2007 Anime Guide:


Reading through really quickly - what the heck is with all these dating/harem type shows? D; There were only a few that kinda sounded interesting... Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro because I adored Detective Conan (or "Case Closed" here in the States... mehp) back in middle/high... the only thing is it's turned into one of those series that will NEVER end Dx Mokke, but more for the Aria comment than anything else... and the screenshot for Minami-ke looked cute, but that's not really a strong enough reaction to justify downloading it in the immediate future at any rate.

On the upside... W00T W00T GENSHIKEN 2!!! So going to have to check that out *bounces around madly*

Speaking of otaku-themed series, I was browsing around PopCultureShock and came across this manga series called I, Otaku. I read the preview,
it's pretty hilarious. I just wish there was more of it T_T

I'm kinda interested in the new Gundam too, but I feel like I should watch Gundam Seed first... I've been intrigued by its overwhelming popularity for a long time. I kinda just want to watch it to see what the hype is about. Believe it or not that's kind of my take on EVA as well... I still haven't got past episode 2 or 3 of that series xP

Now I'm reading through talkback posts for all the "disappointed you didn't cover X series 'cause it's so good!" posts x3 Here's one that looks interesting:
Sounds a little bit like a modern, chibified version of Mushishi xDDD I think I'm going to have to check it out, that ANN screenshot is amazing!

I gotta say, Manga Sutra: FUTARI H sounds FASCINATING. Or maybe it's just this closing sentence that appealed to me: "So what if it looks a bit old-fashioned? Do you know how refreshing it is to read an adult manga that doesn't make you feel like a pervert or a moron?" Hahaha xD
