I'm generally about two seasons behind whatever current anime is playing now. Well, more than that, since I started out as a manga fan than an anime fan. But yesterday I finally started two current (or relatively current) series so I feel VERY HEPPY... Especially because these two are SO GOOD... mwa ha ha XD It's fun to be tracking series again.
What I'm drooling over is Dennou Coil and Nodame Cantabile. I'm very excited over these two, but I'm going gaga particularly over Nodame Cantabile. I started the manga in NYC over the weekend while visiting friends and was cracking up in the Barnes and Noble... I'm sure some of the people around me were like "weirdo." But yeah as soon as I got back from NYC I started downloading. The anime doesn't disappoint - especially because of the music. I mean IT'S A SERIES ABOUT CLASSICAL MUSIC. How much cooler can it get? XD Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that Nodame's done by the same people who did Honey & Clover. Can someone confirm? xD The OP and ED really do remind me a lot of the H&C sequences. *loves*
But yeah I plan to watch the Nodame live action too... I guess once I finish the anime. Dennou Coil looks great so far too. I adore those mojos. I'm only up to the second episode, but so far I'm loving mega-ba and her laser beam XD

Yeah, I can confirm that Nodame Cantabile is from the same people as Honey & Clover and yeah, it's a damn good show XD
Actually it's one of my favourite series^^
I started watching the Live Action too, but stopped after the first episode -- not nearly as good as the anime. But then again, I have never watched a Live Action that was any good (some recommendations maybe?).
Dennou Coil is something I want to watch too, but I'll wait until it's finished, as I hate to start a series when I know I have to wait some weeks or month until I can finish it.

Dennou Coil is probably the best show of this season along with Gurren Lagann and Seirei no Moribito.
Oh, and an other interesting serie to follow would be Mononoke, it's very very original in terms of style and animation.
And last but not least, Zetsubo Sensei (where my current avatar is from), which is pretty fun and relaxed (and it's done by Studio SHAFT, one of my favorite animation studios).

Gurren Lagann is definitely a fun show. Some scenes remind me of their previous works such as eva (almost blatant unit 02 spin-off) and Gunbuster. I've been kind of disappointed with some of the recent work that's come out of that studio, but I would say this is their redeemer.
im more of a manga fan but ive always found the nodame cantabile scans intresting wich would you recomend the anime or the manga?
Both, swordfish.
I would mostly recommend the anime this time because in the manga you'll probably lose the enchanted feel of the music wich it's very explicit in the anime.
NooOOo ShiNN stop throwing out all these anime series names! XD I'm sooo behind on my anime/manga that it's not even funny. I'm still only halfway through Mushishi *cries*
Hehe IceHand I had a college friend who refused to start series that aren't finished either... I used to tease him by saying "OMG XXX is so good! They do blah blah blah" and he'd be like nooooooooooo T__T hahaha xD I'm generally not a live action fan either, but so many people have told me that the Nodame live action is awesome... yeah. I can't really recommend any other live actions off the top of my head that struck me as THE HAWESOMES, but I'm sure they're hiding around out there somewhere...
swordfish, I only read volume 1 and half way through volume 2 of the Nodame manga (and only got up to episode 2 of the anime) so I can't speak for the entire series. The manga was HILARIOUSLY entertaining, but simply because it's a series about classical music I'd recommend the anime, because that way you get to actually hear what they're playing :D So far the anime seems to follow the manga extremely closely and they preserved the essence/original storyline of the manga really well. So the anime is definitely worth a shot :D

damnit flyin, so i got all of Nodame and its defiinitely all watched now. Its definitely got its flaws like everything else, but its definitely one of those shows that reminded me why I ever got into anime in the first place. This like alot of other music-themed animes, films, etc... really makes me want to learn to play a fuckload better. I dont really play shit, but just seeing the whole process and nature of performing music in a group seems so fascinating to me that it compels me with a great desire to try it someday. But yea, writing about it, isnt really going to communicate what I thought of this show...
...but this image of Kermit, can be likened to my reaction during my watch:

YEAH I KNOW NODAME'S SO AWESOME ISN'T IT T___T It's seriously love love love *dies*
I'm buying high speed internet (partly) because of that show lol, I've been fighting my crappy community/leecher wireless for the past weekend trying to get the rest of the episodes. I'm up to 18, the Comcast dudes are coming today, with any luck I'll be able to finish it in the next two days >+<
You should start on the manga now crap now that you're done with the anime :D tat0es told me the manga is still ongoing, and the Europe arc is supposed to be really awesome... thank goodness lol since I'm seriously in a living, breathing, and obsessing over Nodame stage right now, I'd probably be traumatized if I finished the anime and there weren't any more.
I seriously hope they make a season two of the anime with the Europe arc, so we get all the music as well! XD

LOL *WAKZ0RS*
I'm sort of watching Dennou Coil right now, although Nodame is my primary love and obsession. Now that I have FAST INTARNETS though I will try out some of these other series tat0rs :] Not to say I'm lacking things to watch/read at all, but... are there any other amazing series recently? I know ShiNN (and nas) are both enjoying Gurenn Lagann as well, so it's definitely on my to-check list.
I'd be interested in hearing manga recommendations as well :]
